Farmers call for Nationals to negotiate for strong climate action

Media Alert, 13 July 2016: Farmers around the country are remining Malcolm Turnbull and Barnaby Joyce that climate change is a major concern and strong climate action must be discussed as they meet to form a new Coalition agreement.

Australia’s food and fibre producers are on the front line and are feeling and seeing the impacts right now as they face ongoing drought, rising temperatures and extreme weather events . They say it is crucial that leaders show an understanding of what the situation is in rural areas, and the difficulties that rural and isolated Australians face.

Farmers around the country are available to comment on the agreement and what the new leadership must do to support rural Australia.
