Renewable energy the best way to keep rising power bills at bay

Clean energy is the low-cost and long-term solution to rising power bills, the Community Power Agency says.

The NSW Government will spend $1 billion over four years to help families pay their gas and electricity bills as the energy crisis hits homes.

The Community Power Agency’s Nicky Ison said the electricity market was obviously broken.

“This is a wake-up call: more and more people are struggling to power their homes because the electricity system is outdated and puts profits before people. Clean energy, like solar and wind power, is the cheapest way to fix the problem.”

Ms Ison said 35 community groups were working across New South Wales to build and run their own clean energy projects and more should be done to support them.

“With just a little support, these projects will increase the number of people in New South Wales who can access cheap renewable energy while also improving our state’s environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
