Psychologist New South Wales
Working on Dharug land, Ruth Nelson is a clinical psychologist who practices at Baabayn, an Aboriginal family centre in Mount Druitt that focuses on culturally-safe intergenerational trauma healing. The community members at Baabayn bear the brunt of climate change impacts such as worsening extreme heat and air pollution.
Witnessing the rise of eco-anxiety has pushed Ruth Nelson to use her skills to provide support to local communities as they lead the call for a stronger climate action response from our leaders.
Ruth is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Activist Practitioner, an online magazine where mental health professionals, academics and community experts reflect on the most pressing social and environmental challenges of our time.
